Great meme!

I love Sam because he's such a complicated character. He can be sweet and understanding, has this heartbreaking desire to do good, and he's smart, brave and determined, but he's also obsessive, prone to anger, and has this dangerous tendency to detached himself from his emotions when things get too much. And, well, he's hot, too. :) My love for him grew with each season, and can't be moved. I loved him in season 4, I loved him during the first season 6 episodes we got. &hearts &hearts.

Even in his darkest hour I love him. He faces his demons head on and he fails more than he succeeds but it makes him more human and flawed, but he doesn't let that keep him down or let that turn him into a monster, he stands up and win the biggest fight of them all. And that's what makes Sam Winchester the man that he is!

I'm so sorry I can't seem to locate who to credit for this pic - but yeah I just can't get enough of it. The fact that Sam wants to believe even with everything he has had to deal with. The fact that he (or at least as of last season) still hadn't completely given up on God even if it seemed at times that maybe God had given up on him. Yeah I just love that about him. In the words of George Michael: "you gotta have faith."

Now one of the creppiest moments of TV for me was the first time we had the pleasure of meeting Lucifer!Sam. It was just so completely NOT Sam and that freaked me out BIG TIME. Good job J. Padalecki!

My very favorite of all of Sam's shirts! A dear friend of mine gave me the 'baseball-card' with the tiny piece of it, and yeah I'm not above running my fingers over it from time to time. Yep I'm THAT sad!

Why Do I love Sam Winchester? Well, I've actually given that quite a few thoughts really. I think it's mainly because he is so complex. Ofcourse it doesn't hurt one bit he's frigging sex on legs but really most of all I love Sam because even if he has changed SO much since The Pilot he is still so very much Sam Winchester.
I also love the small things, like how he holds a pen. The fact that he seems to go for knives over guns. I get a little too giddy when he is in full-on research geekboy mood. And yeah the fact that he is trying his very best to be a good guy even when the univers seems to want him to bat for the other team. I love that even after 5 seasons there are still layers to peal away and get new infomation.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Sammy smiling. ♥ I love him because he is a good and decent person. No matter what horrible things happened to him, he faced them with strength and courage. He always fought so hard to save as many people as possible, and he was never embarrassed to show his emotions.

Even when Ruby brainwashed him with demon blood he still believed he was using his abilities to help save people. At the end when he was possessed by Lucifer he found the strength to overtake him and choose his family over everything else.

I think Sammy is the heart of "Supernatural". The first 5 seasons were definitely his story arc and he passed the ultimate test with flying colors. He will always be my favorite character from SPN. <3

I could post a picture from "Bad Day at Blackrock" from the I-lost-my-shoe-scene (cause that was the exact moment I fell in love with him), but that isn't what I love most about him. To me Sam Winchester is the true righteous man on the show (NOT trying to pick a fight here!!!!) because he forgives everybody, he forgives Dean, Castiel, his mother, his Dad, everybody who ever used him, he loves them, no matter what they do. He gets through whatever life throws at him and he's always willing to see the good in people even if that often comes back to bite him in the ass. He still believes, after everything he's been through, he wants to redeem himself even for things that were beyond his control and he never blames others. He's incredibly strong and I REALLY love that about him.

This absolutely breaks my heart about Sam. He takes responsibility for things that he shouldn't have to take the full blame for. Sure, he killed Lilith and started the apocalypse, but he was manipulated every step of the way, and the angels kept his brother from him when he needed Dean the most. Still, Sam takes the blame and takes it upon himself to fix it - I've seen arguments about the fact that he said yes to Lucifer even when Dean told him no, that he ignored Dean's wishes, but I just think he did what he had to do. It was incredibly brave.

Now, to Sammy:
On a purely superficial level I've always been a Dean!girl. However, overtime I came to respect and admire Sam much more. He's full of contradictions, hot'n'cold at the same time, rebellious, strong, passionate, obsessive, capable of both very good and very bad things... especially when we remember that he was introduced as a good boy and more of a softie.
To be frank, I think that the creators at some point decided that we shouldn't like Sam. But let's just think about it: trusting both Ruby and Cas was a gamble. Sam lost it, Dean won. Not his fault, really.

At first, I didn't like him at all, but he totally grew on me like a wonderful, cancerous tumor. o w o He's just.. so IMPERFECT and I love it. He's so entangling and conceivable at the same time. Like a beautiful contradiction. A lot of the time his decisions don't really make sense at all or they're utterly blasphemous, but if you dig a little deeper and put yourself in his shoes you'll understand his point better. And yeah, he might not be the best judge of character (i.e. Ruby), but in his defense most of the people that steered him wrong were conniving bastards. He believes that there is good in EVERYONE. He doesn't judge.. even when maybe he should. And.. the complexity of the character. Sam Winchester just has so many layers to chip away at.

Let me try that again on a non-romantically-cryptic day. I'm having a verbose day today. Sorry about that...




I love Sam because he shows me what it is to be an imperfect human being.

At some point I realised that this character was *way* under my skin. I really care what happens to him.

I love that he fights so hard against the destiny that other forces try to impose upon him (from escaping to Stanford to be his own person, right up to refusing Lucifer over and over again).

He started out so sure of himself and so well-meaning, became such a strong, capable hunter, but at some point he began to slip into a tragic demise as he made desperately big mistakes, lost all his innocence and felt he had to become some kind of monster to put it right, finally sacrificing himself [I write this from England - we don't get s6 till January]. But he never gave up believing that somehow he *could* put it right, however much of himself he had to lose to do so.

Despite all the terrible things he did, he's always had a good heart. It's always felt as though somehow it would be possible to bring him back to life, back from addiction, back from the edge he seemed to teeter on for so long. All through seasons 4&5 my heart ached for him, his innocence lost, watching him slowly fall and gradually fail, and pleading with him under my breath, Oh, Sammy, please be good. And the end was so bittersweet: he won, but he had to lose himself to do it.

To be fatally flawed, and yet forgiveable, is a complex concept to me. I'm so hard on myself and my own mistakes, and it's a real stretch to embrace the idea that the flaws and mistakes that make us human - even the monumentally disastrous ones - are forgiveable precisely *because* we're human, and because we keep trying, in the hope of one day redeeming ourselves and making our overall contribution to the world a positive one. Sam always keeps trying, trying so hard, and I love him for that.

It's just TV, it's just entertainment, he's just a beautiful, beautiful, sweet young man who distracts me like crazy, but it's more than that too. Actors have the chance to show us to ourselves, to make us think and love and grow; we learn best through stories, and I love what Sam teaches me about what it is to be disastrously human.
