He's flawed. This is probably the thing I love the most. He makes mistakes, he makes bad choices, he's stubborn, he cares too much, he doesn't care enough, he's conflicted and passionate and just a big ball of angst...

THIS, THIS, THIS. I see someone complain every time Sam makes a bad choice, but come on! He's human, he's flawed, and if he wasn't, he wouldn't be Sam.
